News Release - from City of Athens Engineering & Public Works

Public Information Meeting Scheduled  

On Tuesday, May 21^st from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, the City of Athens will hold a Public Open House in order to provide information about the upcoming Columbus Road/N. Lancaster Street Infrastructure Improvements Project.  The open house will be held at 86 Columbus Circle in Suite 103.

The City of Athens is currently in the design phase of the project, with construction slated for Summer/Fall, 2013. Improvements will include asphalt overlays along Columbus Road from the city limits to Second Street and along N. Lancaster Street from Second Street to S. Lancaster Street.  The Columbus Road section will also include sanitary sewer lining, and the installation of a few new water services.  The Lancaster Street section will include curb and sidewalk improvements and utility improvements (new waterline, lining the sanitary sewer and manholes).

This project will be partially funded through funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission and a Community Development Block Grant.

Citizens are encouraged to drop by any time between 3:00 and 6:00 pm to learn about the project and speak with city officials.  There is no fixed program.
